The coconut palm is a symbol of “tree of life” in Hawaii and most tropical countries where it grows abundantly. Some people believe that this palm is the symbol of romance in the tropics. People associate the coconut palm with relaxation and shades looking out over the sea to the horizon where similar tall trees grow.
Interestingly so, this “extraordinary” tree has many other uses. For example, lately, I scoured through some fabulous fashion accessory finds –including a fantastic flower-shaped design coco and hammer-shell pendant. The pendant is used in a necklace beautifully complemented with a line of tiger-patterned coco oval-beads and hammer-shell heishi beads.
In time for this season’s most wanted “white-shirt-and-blue-jeans” get-up, one can easily get away with the simplest and coolest accessories. So why not put on your own-made accessories (try using this coco pendant with other coco beads)…
The versatile coconut shell is also made into belts, bags, home decors, and many other handicrafts. It’s no wonder why (in Sanskrit the coconut palm is called “kalpa vriksha”) the name translates into “the tree which provides all the necessities of life,” an inviting symbol of the tropics…
